A pleasant stopover en route from Leh to Kargil
Typically, we opt for regular hotels, so choosing a homestay-style place for our one-night stay in Lamayuru left me a bit uncertain. My worries, however, were completely unfounded. Upon reaching Dragon Hotel (conveniently close to the Leh-Kargil highway), the hospitality exceeded our expectations. The host family and their staff were incredibly attentive, creating a homely atmosphere.
Considering the cost, guests should manage their expectations regarding luxurious amenities. While not a high-end property, it efficiently fulfills all essential needs. The rooms are tidy, hot water is available, and the open-air dining offers delectable food. Surrounded by greenery, I experienced one of my most refreshing naps during our Ladakh trip at Dragon Hotel. The dining area also serves as a wonderful spot for spontaneous conversations with fellow travelers.
The hotel's strategic location, near the monastery and moonscape, is a notable perk. The monastery sits just above the hotel, visible from various parts of the property at all times. Additionally, for dog enthusiasts, there are two adorable furry companions. Undoubtedly, the best choice for a brief stop when journeying between Leh and Kargil/Srinagar.

Discovering this gem was truly a stroke of luck. Firstly, the entire family and staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. Our room offered comfort, cleanliness, and a cozy atmosphere, coupled with the luxury of hot water for a refreshing shower after our long journey. The food was superb, and the service exhibited a blend of friendliness and professionalism. Locating the hotel is very easy as it is just near the monastery atop the hill. Highly recommended!

Our stay here provided a glimpse into the daily life of Ladakhis. Sharing meals and conversations, enjoying tea, savoring noodles and thupka, and stargazing at night while engaging in friendly talks with the owners made for memorable moments. We indulged in photography until the evening, captivated by Lamayuru's unique landscape, often referred to as moonland. A visit here is a must!

Our stay at the hotel was delightful. The hospitality extended to us was admirable, with everyone being friendly and assisting us in accessing the wifi. The room, spacious and clean, provided a comfortable haven, including the bathroom. Despite its proximity to the highway, the garden offered a serene atmosphere. It seems the highway noise is common in Lamayuru, but it didn't significantly impact our overall experience. :)
